Integrative Medicine Practitioner Standards
This web site,
HealUSA.net, promotes the use of these standards
developed by the Integrative Medicine Institute.
HealUSA.net provides referrals and
references only to
practitioners who agree with and qualify for this seal
of approval of Holistic Integrative Medicine
Practitioners.
| These standards define the necessary training,
education, philosophy and
method of care of an Integrative Medicine Practitioner.
Not all Conventional
Doctors or Complementary and Alternative Medicine
Practitioners qualify
according to these high standards.
We recommend that you follow these standards when
choosing
an integrative health practitioner. |
Credentialing
and Quality Assurance Standards
These
Standards help guide high quality, whole person,
integrative health care.
- Practitioners must be educated and trained in the art
and science of their practice by an accredited school
and show proof of their graduation from such institute.
- Practitioners
must be licensed in the state in which they work (
if appropriate), show proof of that license and
practice within the scope of their practice.
- Practitioners
adhere to their professionšs code of ethics and are
committed to ongoing self education to expand their
knowledge of their profession and to stay current
with research in their area of expertise.
- Practitioners work out of or in a professional
office setting. If the office is connected to their
home, a direct public access to their office is
necessary as well as conforming to local zoning
codes and maintaining a clean, professional
atmosphere.
- Practitioners maintain an open and discerning mind
toward innovative therapies and treatments and
strive to work, refer and cooperate with other
qualified practitioners outside of their field.
- Practitioners run a client centered practice and
recognize the multi faceted complexity of a human
being. They treat the whole individual with respect
and compassion and abide by the treatment law of
first, do no harm.
- Practitioners prescribe to the notion that onešs
state of health is a reflection of the dynamic
balance of the physical, environmental,
mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of
the individual. Practitioners are healers, educators
and partners with their patients.
- Practitioners acknowledge the interconnection
between onešs state of health and an individuals
personal spiritual path.
- When an unsatisfactory practitioner complaint is
received it is forwarded to the named practitioner
to resolve the matter. When significant complaints
or a pattern of negative ratings are reported all
involved parties will assist in the resolution of
the issue. Documented complaints of significant
seriousness or persistence will result in the
termination of that practitioner without cause.
- Practitioners certify they are free of malpractice
or disciplinary action instituted by a patient in
which findings were made which reflect a future risk
toward the delivery of patient care.
