The Physicians of the future will give no medicine
but will interest their patient in the care of the human form,
in diet,
and in the cause and prevention of disease.

The Future is Now!
- HealUSA.net
HealUSA.net
is dedicated to providing accurate, responsible
alternative medicine information to the public through
research reports, videos, articles and referrals to
Holistic Integrative Practitioners and Certified Natural
Products.
We
believe that the best form of health care utilizes
the best of both worlds of conventional and CAM health
care, with both the patient and practitioner working
together to provide whole person, individualized
integrative health care. We call that integrative
medicine.
We
specialize in providing responsible and accurate CAM
information to treat chronic illnesses through the use
of holistic integrative medicine.
HealUSA.net
is the internet expression of a successful
integrative health program started in Washington, DC
several years ago by several hundred doctors and
alternative medicine practitioners. Two factors
motivated this historical program in the Nation's
Capital:
- the
growth of the use of complementary and alternative
medicine,
- the
subsequent lack of knowledge about a group of
alternative healing systems and different
alternative health practitioners that worked outside
the field of conventional medicine.
Physician, First do no harm!
- Medical Oath
The
Integrative Medicine Institute developed two sets of
standards and criteria for holistic integrative medicine
practitioners and another for natural products -
HealUSA.net abides by these standards throughout this
site:
- Holistic
Integrative Medicine Practitioners Standards and
Quality Controls defined Holistic Integrative
Medicine and developed the credentialing standards
for integrative medicine practitioners. These
include both conventional doctors and alternative
and complementary practitioners who were
appropriately licensed and credentialed to practice
their form of health care. This standard helped
identify those practitioners who had sufficient
training, knowledge, and expertise to provide whole
person, individualized integrative treatments. Each
practitioner must show proof of their legitimate
credentials, certifications and licenses and follow
the codes and conduct of holistic integrative health
care (see practitioner
standards).
- The
Physicians Natural Product Certification Program
developed standards to certify natural products
through verifying and validating those elements of
natural product manufacturing which affected the
purity, safety and effectiveness of natural
products. Basically, the certifying procedures help
ensure that what is in the label is the same as the
contents in the bottle and that there is evidence
showing the product can be effective in improving
your health. (see certifying
standards).
HealUSA.net
provides a growing National Referral Service to
direct people to approved appropriate credentialed
practitioners.
All
of these standards and services were created
to help answer the question:
What
form of CAM is best for me and who should I see to
receive the appropriate treatment?
In the field of conventional medicine a lot of this
is already figured out - In alternative medicine we are
just starting to get organized. However each day we
learn more about these various alternative therapies,
some of which are hundreds of years old and used
successfully by 80% of the world's population. (see
referral service)
We
wish you the best of health and a joyous full life!
Gary D. Sandman
Director
At the age of 19 Gary was diagnosed with a
pre-diabetic condition. After consulting a nutritionist
Gary shifted his diet and gave up all sugar and sugar
containing products, plus began a life long regimen of
taking supplements. His symptoms disappeared within six
months and to this day Gary is free of any related
diabetic illness. After graduating from the University
of Maryland's Honors Pre-Medicine program he decided to
turn down an offer to attend John Hopkins School of
Medicine. Instead he travel to Northern California and
studied with some of the first doctors and scientists
who began exploring the beginnings of alternative
medicine.
For
the last 28 years, all of Gary's efforts have been
directed to providing access and awareness of medical
health choices using a combination of alternative and
conventional medical resources. Gary started a regional
alternative medicine referral providing integrated
health services and consulting services both locally and
nationally. He is co-author of the soon to be released
Complementary and Alternative Medicine Credentialing
Reference Guide. A voluminous reference guide on the
standards, licensing requirements and credentials of CAM
practitioners. He is also co-founder of the the Design
Principles for Healthcare Renewal Working Group which
is developing guiding principals to develop integrative
health care as our main system of health care.
Gary
is also a veteran of television production having
developed his skills working on several national
television shows with Bill Hiller, the originator of
magazine formatted television shows. He is host and
co-producer of two new pilot TV shows. The
Alternative Medicine Journal is a proposed
weekly news show about CAM health care. Survivor
Stories. is a collection of human interest stories of
individuals who have conquered cancer and other life
threatening illnesses. He has produced a documentary on The
Health Effects of Global Climate Change.
Mark Wiley
Medical Writer
Mark V. Wiley began life two-and-a-half months premature, weighing in at only 1 pound, 13 ounces. His first four months were spent in the hospital, with less-than-average bone development, breathing difficulties, and infantile spasms now believed to have been deep seizures. Perhaps as a result, Mark has spent his life suffering chronic musculoskeletal pain and migraine headaches.
After 15 years of seeing Western-trained specialists in various disciplines to cure his ailments, Mark found no lasting relief--although he did experience tremendously painful rebound headaches from the amount of prescription medications he was taking! This led to his worldwide search for alternative healers and traditional healing methods to deal with his pain. He made numerous trips to the Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and various parts of the United States, receiving "alternative" non-invasive treatments from chiropractors, physical therapists, hypnotists, qigong masters, yogis, acupuncturists, herbalists, traditional Chinese doctors, bone setters, faith healers, and shamans.
Mark has written 8 books and over 80 articles, has served as Publisher of 247You.com and Manager of Product Development for the Health Sciences Institute, and is a founding member of HealUSA.Net. It is this vast personal experience, in addition to his background in anthropology and more than 20 years in martial arts, that is at the heart of Mark's ability to tell the "legitimate from the quack" and bring HealUSA.Net readers the real story on alternative health and healing.
